Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food with my groupies Ash, Deej, and Greyson. I hope my posts spark your own adventures to share with me!

Stay fancy my friends,

Wallflower in Venice

Wallflower in Venice

I'm going to say two words and you tell me the first three things that come to your mind.

Ready?

Asian food.

Take out. Chow Mein. Oily.

What some people label as a stereotype or judgement others consider as fact. Whatever your course may be, our brains require us to categorize items in order for us to store memories, thoughts, and ideas into memory. What can counteract a previous filed away judgement? New experiences!

In order for you to redefine your concept of Southeast Asian cuisine, dine at Wallflower in Venice, California.

Venice is a eclectic beach town north of Los Angeles. It takes nothing serious but taking nothing serious. With such a variety of individuals from all walks of life in the neighborhood, I have to highlight the word eclectic. People skateboarding on the streets, the streets are close together boasting the age of Venice beach, new modern homes neighbor small bungalows and colorful murals randomly displayed on walls in the neighboorhood will show you when you have arrived in Venice.

Wallflower is located on the street that leads you to Venice beach but just down the street is Main Street that houses all the locations instagrammed a million times with no parking, pricey food and crowds to make you feel like an ant.  I avoided Main Street that day and wandered into Wallflower for some brunch.

With a cozy patio out front the resteraunt is well decorated with marble table tops, bar stocked and the cool chic LA vibe, Chris Pine kind of vibe. With a Chinese paper dragon hanging from the ceiling above the bar and on point libations with a smoked old fashioned on the libation menu, Wallflower does not disappoint. No that I've boasted about the restaurant, ambience and libation menu, I've saved the best for last, the food.

Scallion and Kimchi Pancake, coffee with coconut milk, rice bowl with Kimchi and the list of edible creations goes on. Rather than joining the uppity top chefs in LA, Wallflower has used ingredient favorites with a southeast Asian blend to create a menu to compete with the greats but still allow the layman to enjoy and savor the food.

In all honesty, my husband is a food conoseir and I am a proud food layman and we both ordered two entrees and two drinks individually, and we both have planned what to order during our next visit. Wallflower Venice surprised me in every way possible, so much so I blogged about it the next day. Go to Venice and enjoy the pier or walk down Main Street but make sure you eat and drink at Wallflower.
